Stretchy Band Songs For Preschool and Kindergarten Music Time

On this blog post, I’m sharing with some of our favorite songs to use with the Stretchy Band! But first, let me tell you that the Stretchy Band is one of my favorite movement props. It is flexible, stretchy and made with elastic and a soft, colorful fabric. Another great perk is that the Stretchy Band is machine washable!

Bear Paw Creek is my favorite store to get movement props for my preschool and kindergarten music classes and it’s where I get my Stretchy Band. You can get yours here.

Up next, the songs!

Some of our favorite songs for the Stretchy Band:

1. “Stretch It Out”

by Stephanie Leavell

I wrote “Stretch It Out”, a movement song for the Stretchy Band that is great to engage kids playing with different movements, but it also prompts kids to come up with their own, which is a great way to use their creativity.

2. Stretchy Band Jam

by Music with Mar.

3. Let’s All Move Together

by Rachel Rambach

With this catchy song by Rachel Rambach of Listen & Learn Music, kids can reach up, make a circle, walk backwards and have fun with different movement possibilities using the Stretchy Band. You can listen and purchase this song here. Also, check out this blog post that features Listen & Learn Music’s top 3 favorite (and effective) Stretchy Band songs!

4. Moving In Place

by Mr. Gym

This song is all about jumping, walking, running, hopping, stretching… and after all, moving in place in our own space. And I just love how it ends with “sitting in our own place”, for a calm-down, relaxing end of what it can be a very active movement activity!

5. The Airplane Song

by Laurie Berkner

While not specifically a song for the Stretchy Band, I can just imagine how much fun children can have imagining that they’re on an airplane while using the Stretchy Band!

“Get in your airplanes, and off we go
Going to the park is first, you know
Now slow it down and land on the ground
And when you get out
You're gonna jump all around”

“Bounce bounce, bounce bounce

Hold on the band and go

Bounce bounce

Bouncing to the beat

Bouncing to the beat”
